DMG MORI in Finland and the Baltic States

DMG MORI launches direct sales and service for Finland and the Baltic States

DMG MORI, one of the leading manufacturers of cutting machine tools, is taking over the direct sales and service for Finland and the Baltic States Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia on 1st February 2015. The headquarters will be based in Tampere in Finland. From here, DMG MORI will manage its market activities like the extensive direct sales and customer-related services for Finland and the Baltic States with a current total of 15 sales and service employees.

By May 2015, a new technology and service centre will have been created in Tampere with a large showroom, in which the latest high-tech machines from DMG MORI will be showcased live in full cutting action. Amongst others, a representative of the 2nd generation NHX series will be placed here. The new horizontal machining centres, namely the NHX 4000 and the NHX 5000, are compact as much as dynamic equipment for the production of complex, sophisticated components up to highly efficient serial production, e.g. in the automotive industry or machine and plant engineering.

Outstanding features of the new NHX series are the Direct Drive table in DDM® technology with up to 100 rpm as well as the direct travel measuring systems from MAGNESCALE in all axes. The construction of the machines has also been optimized with regard to the use of shorter tools. The distance from the spindle nose to the centre of the pallet has been minimized to 70 mm thus ensuring longer tool service life and higher process stability.

The workpiece range of the NHX 4000 2nd generation with 400-pallet comprises workpieces up to 630 mm diameter and 900 mm height. The horizontal machining centre machines components with an extremely high degree of accuracy and efficiency in its 560 × 560 × 660 mm (in X x Y x Z) work area. The 730 x 730 x 880 mm work area of the larger 500-pallet sister machine has space for workpieces with heights of up to 1,000 mm and widths of 800 mm.

The high precision demanded of the horizontal machining centres goes hand-in-hand with impressive ratings for speed and dynamics. The linear axes, for example, travel at a speed of 96 m/min (60 m/min in the standard version) with acceleration rates of up to 1.2 g. Chip-to-chip times are just 2.2 seconds and the Direct Drive Table (DDM®) with a speed of up to 100 rpm ensures the shortest possible positioning times.

In the process itself, spindle rotation speeds of up to 15,000 rpm and torque of 111 Nm are available to the user as standard. The optional high-torque version has a torque of up to 200 Nm at 15,000 rpm. The modular building blocks of the new NHX models also include a high-speed version that achieves a speed of up to 20,000 rpm.

With a multitude of options, DMG MORI offers its customers the chance of adapting the NHX 4000 2nd generation and NHX 5000 2nd generation individually to meet their own specific needs. These options also include diverse automation solutions. The horizontal machining centres can, for example, be equipped with a round pallet magazine (RPP) that excels with its low space requirement and outstanding setup features. The DMG MORI systems also offer the option of integrating a carrier pallet magazine (CPP) or a linear pallet magazine (LPP).

Like all new high-tech machines, the two new horizontal machining centres of the NHX series present themselves with CELOS® from DMG MORI for the fastest and most intelligent route to the finished product. CELOS® APPs provide the user with integrated management, documentation and visualization of order, process and machine data on a large 21.5” multi-touch screen of the ERGOline® Control. Furthermore, operation of the machine is simplified, standardized and automated.

The most recent CELOS® version with now 16 APPs will be supplied from April 2015. Included in this are four new APPs, which will be presented for the first time at the open house exhibition of DECKEL MAHO in Pfronten. The CELOS® PC version is also new. It is used by customers to optimally plan and control their production process directly during work preparation. In addition, any machines or equipment can be incorporated in an integral CELOS® periphery with the CELOS® PC version.
